During a press conference, MP Mimi Kodheli has raised the concern about one of the fundamental problems Albanians face - the unemployment. According to Kodheli the promises of the Prime Minister during the electoral campaign for decrease of unemployment and the opening of new jobs have not been kept. Further on she added that “the economy is in crisis and unfortunately this crisis is affecting all Albanians, a crisis Berisha Government refuses to admit.”
“In the conditions that Albania despite the political crisis faces also a serious economic crisis, accompanied with price rise, devaluation of the national currency, the energy price rise, we have the right to ask a question: What is happening with the employment policies? During the electoral campaign Sali Berisha promised to Albanians to open 160 thousand new jobs, which means an average of 40 thousand new jobs per year. At the same time, Berisha has denied the existence of the economic crisis by stating that the country’s economy is promising and no negative effect for the Albanian economy will be perceived during 2010. But what does the evidence show in this respect? According to Berisha, during the first six-month period of Berisha governing 20 000 new jobs should have been opened. According the statistical data instead of the opening of 20 000 new jobs, 2300 person lost their job during September 2009 – February 2010 period. Today the Albanians are poorer and more unemployed as result of the misgoverning on the part of Sali Berisha.”
