During a press conference, MP Pirro Lutaj has raised the concern about the life insecurity in the country. Lutaj has highlighted that regardless the fact that Berisha portrays the failures as successes, the Police General Director has hided some statistical figures regarding the crime during the annual analysis.  The socialist deputy said the increase of murders is alarming, as well as the thefts of houses, businesses and street crimes. There is an increasing concern in this respect and the police force is incompetent to face these criminal offences.
 
“The SPA strongly reiterates that there is an increase of life insecurity. This is a worrying phenomenon to every Albanian, who witnesses how worthless one’s life is, as result of insecurity in the country.  Two murders in three days with three victims each clearly show that the governmental propaganda is abusive and unclear in respect of public order in the country. The public declarations on decrease of murders constitute a scandalous abuse of the current government. The figures regarding the criminality statistics offered by the State Police are alarming and do not give an optimistic picture in respect of security in the country.

If we refer to the official statistics of the State Police, we can see that the crime is increasing and is out of ruling majority control. The criminality rise is about 12 offences per year, a figure that speaks about an alarming situation and non-fulfillment of the standards regarding the public order and security in the country.

During the analysis for the performance of the State Police for 2009, the General Director has hided for the first time and not occasionally the statistic of crime against the property. This constitutes an unprecedented case, but there is an explanation about it. There is a scandalous increase of this crime type and the figure regarding the discovery of these offences is historically the lowest – only 45 %. Many factors that favor the increase of criminality in the country have the origin in the policies followed during these years regarding the police personnel. 2600 specialized police employees qualified in the country and abroad have been fired and replaced by party militants.”
